Hi Everyone!
Happy Monday to you ๐ Say bye bye to Monday blues as you get up with an even toned skin ๐ Sounds like a fairness cream add isnโt it? ๐ OK Silliness apart, uneven skin tone is a problem for many. Including me. Over the years I have learnt a few things we do unconsciously that actually increases our problem of uneven skin tone making it more obvious.
Read on to avoid these habits and start with your damage control on uneven skin tone.
Uneven Skin tone / hyper-pigmentation is basically related to Melanin. Melanin is responsible for the color in our skin and hair. Hence it is important to control the production of melanin in our system to ensure we have good skin and hair ๐
7 Habits That Give you Uneven Skin Tone
Skipping Sunscreen:
Yes this is one of the BIGGEST habit that leads to uneven skin tone. Sunscreens are a must even if you are indoors. You are supposed to apply sunscreen 365 days a year; every single day. Also if you are outdoors apply it every 3 hours to ensure your skin remains even. Sunscreen should be your ‘Holy Grailโ.
Sleeping on one side with pressure:
Yes as surprising as it may sound. I learned that the reason for one annoying pigmentation patch that I have on my left inner cheek is due to the way I slept! ๐ฎ Yes do not sleep on one side constantly with too much pressure; it does lead to uneven skin tone. Best is to sleep straight on your back without any hands on your face.
Not removing make-up at night:
Well make-up removal is very important. If your skin is not clean you are bound to get acne and other skin related issues; leading to an uneven skin tone. Make-up does not let your skin breathe, so no matter how tired, drunk or bored you are, ensure that your skin is not a victim here!
Not following a regular skin care regimen:
Our skin needs its food just like we do. Imagine eating fried unhealthy stuff everyday wouldnโt it affect your body? Or worst; imagine not eating anything and eventually starve your body? THAT is exactly what your skin goes through when you do not follow a proper skin care regimen. Ensure that you invest in understanding your skin type and follow a regular CTM (Cleansing, toning and moisturizing) routine twice a day.

No Regular Exfoliation:
Exfoliation is a process of removing dead skin cells which helps our skin to regenerate new cells. Thereby, revealing fresh glowing skin. It is very important to exfoliate once a week. Use a natural exfoliation mix once a week to ensure you are giving your skin a chance to grow fresh new cells.

Yes, smoking as a habit can lead to uneven skin tone in just a few days. If you are habituated to smoking please stop as it is not only damaging your skin but also burning your lungs! Itโs the worst habit ever โ Smoking and excessive drinking damages the inner layers of your skin, which if not taken care of; the damages can be irreversible.
Picking up on Pimples:
Unless you are a dermatologist DO NOT pick on your pimples. Let them be, and use home remedies to ensure they go safely without leaving behind some serious scars. Picking on pimples can lead to some serious scars leading to uneven skin tone.
Avoid all of the above and follow a good skin care routine to minimize your uneven skin tone. Rest if you have serious pigmentation issues you can always visit a dermatologist for help.
Sometimes such basic things really make a BIG difference to your skin.
