Hoolllaaaaa everyone!

I feel looking for a right shampoo is very important. Striking a balance between all the dirty chemicals and all the goody goody ingredients is the key to find a perfect shampoo that does its job well (that’s cleansing!). I’m sure you all agree with me that the “All Natural” shampoo’s are definitely better but once a week or more depending on our hair type we need a clarifying shampoo. But then again SLS/SLES makes our hair worse 🙁

So catering to this need I’m reviewing a shampoo which has passed the test for me! It is Aloe Vera Nourishing shampoo by the brand Aloe Derma. I’m sure we all know the benefits of Aloevera, so wouldn’t be touching that; so here’s something on the brand-aloe derma:

These products were developed in the U.S. but they are now being imported to India. They have an amazing range of products not just for women but for men and babies too. I think here in India they are dealing through online websites and beauty stores. I came across this brand on my last visit to the beauty shop, Kandivali west. The SA boasted about the brand; she even made me try their products. But as I was in need of a good shampoo; thought of trying this one. And I’m glad I did! here is their website. But there are no hair products mentioned. Strange!!

I know you all are now waiting for the review so here it goes 🙂

What the product claims:

Formulated with Organic Aloe Vera and other natural Ingredients. Effective in cleansing scalp and preventing dandruff. Moisturizes and nourishes hair from root to tip, keeps it fresh, healthy and strong.

Something on Ammonium sulfate that you might want to know:

What it is
Ammonium Laureth Sulfate is the ammonium salt of sulfated ethoxylated lauryl alcohol. It can be derived from coconut, but is usually made in a lab.

What it does
Ammonium Laureth Sulfate is a cleansing agent that remove oils and dirt from hair and skin without drying it out. It makes quite a lot of foam too!

MY EXPERIENCE WITH ALOE DERMA ALOE NOURISHING SHAMPOO:

Just FYI, I have long hair till my waist; which gets dry towards the end, so conditioning is the most important step for me 🙂

This shampoo, I’m using since past 7 weeks; and have found to be a real good deal. I wouldn’t say it is all natural; it does have its own set of chemicals in it. But what I really love, is that the first ingredient is Aloevera! <3 <3 till date all the shampoo’s that I have used has first ingredient as water only. So I feel it is true to its 60% organic aloe vera claim.

When I used this shampoo for the first time; I did not condition my hair. As mentioned earlier, my hair will resemble a straw if not conditioned! :-p. This shampoo did not make my hair that dry; I mean my hair was dry but not its original dry.

Using it normally with a conditioner (I still do not have the same brand conditioner) my hair was really soft and nourished. I’m sure the conditioner from this brand will work better. Having said that, I do miss the other natural ingredients that a lot of shampoo’s have. This one has only 1 organic Ingredient and that’s Aloe Vera. 🙁

I’m not too sure about its dandruff claim, as I don’t have that issue, but yes my scalp feels really clean and nourished. It does not strip off natural oils from my hair.

It is white color shampoo; with a semi-liquid consistency; nothing different as compared to other shampoo’s. It does not have that spa kind of smell; that’ll linger in your hair and bathroom; but that’s not an issue with me as Aloe vera does not have that smell anyways. Infact it has a very basic fragrance; with a mild fragrance of aloe vera juice.

I love the packaging! It comes in a green color plastic bottle, with a pump dispenser. This ensures that it is hygienic and no wastage is done.

Summing up the pro’s and Con’s!

PRO’s of Aloe Derma Aloe nourishing shampoo:

  • Has its first Ingredient as Aloe vera hence 60% of the contents are organic
  • Has Ammonium Laureth Sulfate (mildest of all sulfates)
  • Nourishes hair and scalp
  • Remove’s oil nicely, without over drying hair
  • Hygienic packaging with a pump dispenser
  • Ph balanced and Great for summers!
  • The Aloe vera juice is certified by ECOCERT 😀

CON’s of Aloe Derma Aloe nourishing shampoo:

  • Availability- I have only seen this in the beauty store and online
  • Not travel friendly
  • Can be pricey
  • At the end of the day it does have sulfates! (But I use this once a week only)

My Rating: 4/5

Will I recommend/repurchase Aloe Derma Aloe nourishing shampoo?

Yes I will recommend this shampoo to all who want to use a milder sulfate shampoos, especially for people who cannot do without foam when shampooing. It is more advisable to use it once a week as a clarifying shampoo. I still love my Sebamed anti-dry shampoo; so I am not sure if I will repurchase this again. But I will remember this for sure, incase something happened to my Sebamed!

Have a nice day guys… Lots of love.. xoxoxo
