Last week I created my body butter and I enjoyed it so much! Hereโs the recipe to it ๐
If you follow me on Instagram, you must have seen the video I posted while I was whipping my body butter. What a fun task it was and I am loving my own handmade body butter a lot this month. I was supposed to put this up over the weekend or latest by Monday. But I happened to lose my phone! and eventually did get it back with a lot of tracing. These thieves, I tell you! Anyway, my phone is with and that is what matters ๐
Yes so lets get on with this recipe now.
DIY BODY BUTTER:
Ingredients required:
- Shea Butter - 4 tbsps
- Coconut Oil - 2 tbsps
- Bees wax (melted) - 1/2 tbsp (You can skip this if your Shea butter is in the right consistency, mine was too soft and meltโy)
- Fragrance Oil - Few drops, depending on how strong you want it
- Colorant - I have used Alkanet root oil for a beautiful pink color
- Rose water - 4 tbsps
- Vitamin E soft gel - 1 capsule
Procedure:
- Ok so first, on a double boiler melt 1 tbsp of Shea butter and immediately transfer it to your blending bowl (do not heat it up a lot)
- Add remaining Shea Butter and coconut oil to it. Also add the colorant oil here.
- Whip it slightly with a spoon and then later with a hand blender. At this point you should see the butter getting mixed with the oil.
- If you feel it too hard to blend you can add 1 spoon of rose water here and blend again.
- Once it is properly blended, add melted bees wax and blend again!
- Now add the rose water Vitamin E Capsule and fragrance oils, and do what? well, blend! (Yes, this requires a lot of blending)
- You should now start seeing the butter in a whipped form (Check out my video on Instagram)
- If you are still finding it hard, add little more oil. You will see you butter just in the right consistency.
- Try it out on your hand and check it spread-ability!
Points to keep in mind:
- This body butter will harden after sometime, so keep that in mind when you decide on the consistency
- Even if your body butter is hard, it works beautifully for dry hands and feet
- Blending is very important here, so donโt give up! (Your hands will pain)
- You can add any oil to change the color! Itโs fun ๐
- This body butter will be highly nourishing, so a little will go a long way ๐
P.S. I bought Shea Butter from Moksha lifestyle, Bees wax from Anaha (amazon), coconut oil from Patanjali and alkanet root oil from my trip to Manali ๐
So this is it! Will you make this and let me know? Trust me it feels awesome to use your own handmade body butter ๐

what do you comment on the shea butter?
Wow thatโs amazing…you should start selling it ๐
