Rice Scrub

Rains are beautiful and I love it when its raining. Taking a day off and getting drenched the best soul therapy! However, after that it’s time to slough off the dullness from your face. Rains do have that thing they do to our skin, No? I usually find my skin not too oily, not too dry but still lifeless and dull. I formulated this scrub yesterday and it not only refreshed my skin but also my mind! How? Read the whole recipe.

If you checked out my Instagram Story, you may have seen the look of the rice scrub.. It is VERY tempting. I will be uploading the same video on Insta today πŸ™‚

Rice Scrub for a Rainy Day:

Ingredients Needed:

  • Raw Organic white rice (Ensure it is organic and dry since you will be powdering this at home)
  • Uncooked milk - 2 tbsp
  • Sweet Orange Essential Oil - 3-4 drops (works as a natural preservative - Buy here)
  • Peppermint Oil - 3 drops (Very refreshing - Buy here)

Procedure for Rice Scrub:

  • Take freshly ground rice and churn it into a mixer & grinder. The powder should be little coarse and not a smooth one. Remember this is a scrub so do not keep very large particles just enough for you to get a good scrub.
  • Add 2 tablespoons uncooked milk (you can adjust the milk quantity based on the consistency you like; add this into the mixer and churn once again)
  • Remove it in a bowl and add 2-3 drops of sweet orange essential oil and peppermint oil and mix well.
  • Use it as required.

NOTE: You may keep this in the fridge to use for the next day. But do not store it beyond that, we have not added any broad spectrum preservative, so it does have the risk of catching bacteria.

How does this scrub work?

  • Well because of the coarse texture of rice it scrubs away the dead and dull skin cells. At the same time rice is of course known for its brightening properties; thought its temporary but it does help brightening the skin for a day at least.
  • Uncooked milk is has a good amount of lactic acid that definitely works to lighten skin. Uncooked milk also cause tiny pimple like bumps to those who are lactose in-tolerant so be careful and you may replace milk by curd.
  • Sweet orange essential oil is not only refreshing but acts as a natural preservative in this recipe. Which lets you store this for a day!
  • Pepper mint essential oil is a pure refresher! I love the coolness of it on rainy day, it will make your skin and mind both refreshed πŸ™‚

Prepare this rice scrub fresh and trust me you will love it. You can keep this on your skin for 10 minutes (not more) and then scrub it off πŸ™‚ Do not use this if you have any active acne or pimples on your face.

Happy mid-week guys, Looking forward to Friday πŸ˜€
