Health and Beauty benefits of green tea

Hope your weeks coming along nice. I have been a little busy with my old pals wedding.. But writing has always been my priority hence I manage to squeeze out some time for this baby of mine πŸ˜› Yesterday when I was having my daily beauty dose - Green Tea, I immediately knew what am I going to write on next:) Today morning I made myself a cup of yumm green tea and started writing.

Green Tea is considered a super anti-oxidant drink and has been claimed to help treat cancer. Not only limited to health, but green tea has also made news for it’s amazing beauty benefits.

Green tea for health:

  • Regular consumption of this tea has been linked to bone health over time and reduces the chances of osteoporotic fractures. The anti-oxidants present in green tea helps diminish bone loss.
  • It is extremely beneficial for for those looking to loose weight. Drinking atleast 3 cups of green tea will raise the metabolic rate in your body. Also due to the presence of catechins it helps production of heat within the body which is related to burning calories.
  • According to the National Cancer Institute, the polyphenols in tea have been shown to decrease tumor growth in laboratory and animal studies and may protect against damage caused by ultraviolet UVB radiation.
  • The regular consumption is also related to lower risks of heart stroke and cardiovascular diseases.
  • Along with the natural fluoride found in tea, polyphenols and catechins are associated with killing bacteria that cause tooth decay, bad breath, and gum disease-the number one cause for tooth loss.
  • It also helps to flush out toxins in your body. It also serves as a diuretic and helps to reduce water retention. Green tea have been used for centuries to help the body get rid of any extra fluid it’s not using. You might be surprised just how much better you look and feel when you are not carrying around extra fluid.

 

Green Tea for skin

  • Green Tea contains an antioxidant known as polyphenols which helps you fight against aging and promotes longevity, hence a super dose for anti-ageing.
  • It also helps fight free radicals, hence it reduces sun damage.
  • Helps even out skin tone upon applying as a face pack on the skin
  • It helps in fighting puffy eyes and dark circles when applied as a pack
  • It tones the skin, leaving behind a smooth soft skin

How to use Green tea for skin:

  • The best way to use green tea is utilize the left over leaves instead of throwing and make a face pack mixing crushed green tea leaves with lemon and yogurt. This face pack will be best before going out for a party as it will lift up your skin and make it glow. For added moisture you can add honey to it.
  • Keep the used tea bag in the fridge, and apply it as an under eye pack. This will surely help in reduction of dark circles and puffy eyes. Giving you a full awakened look πŸ™‚
  • Simple brewed green tea (leave it to brew for 30 minutes!) can be used in place of a toner. Once cold, dip a cotton ball and apply it as your daily toner.
  • The tea leaves can also be used a mild exfoliator

Green tea for hair

  • When topically applied it will give shine and bounce to hair.
  • It helps control hair loss as it stimulates hair growth. The anti-inflammatory properties helps to reduce hair loss .

How to use Green tea for hair:

  • Brew the tea for 15 mins and allow to cool. Once cooled apply to hair and leave it on for 30 mins, then wash and condition as usual.
  • This tea can also be used in any of the hair packs to get the added advantage

How to prepare green tea for consumption:

(HOT)

  • Boil water and switch off the flame
  • Now add the tea leaves (1tbsp for 1 cup water)
  • Cover it and leave for a minimum of 6 minutes. The more you keep the stronger will be your tea
  • Pour it in a cup and add lemon to it note: Lemon increases the anti-oxidant power, hence is a very good practice to add lemon in your cup of green tea
  • You can also add a tea spoon of honey (optional)
  • Have it warm and feel the freshness!

(COLD)

  • Prepare the tea as per the above instructions
  • Add mint leaves to it
  • Keep it in a refrigerator to cool
  • Serve or drink it all up chilled in this summer!

All in all green tea when used internally and externally is one amazing ingredient that you MUST incorporate in your diet and your beauty regimen.
