I am a VERY cautious person when it comes to my hair. You may (at times) find me experimenting with my skin, but my hair care routine is actually very fixed, simple and umm.. Boring? 😛
I have coloured my hair once when I was in Junior college (12 years ago!), so its not that I have not tried the fun stuff. Just that I am now done with all of that chemical fun stuff and have been sticking to basics since a very long time.
So to start with let me give you a gist of my day - I get up and go to work (leave house by 9:15), workout 7-8 in the evening, and then reach home by 9:30 pm. So technically i’m out the whole day. With the kind of sweat and pollution that my hair goes through, it is necessary to wash it thrice a week.
DAILY HAIR CARE ROUTINE:
Daily of course I do not have time to pamper my hair. But I do take very basic steps that helps me maintain my hair. I comb it twice a day in the morning and at night. I do not tie my hair tight with a rubber band, instead I use a clip to style it.
One thing that I religiously follow is that I sleep on a satin cloth. This helps so much! I do not get up with tangled frizzy hair. Plus hair doesn’t break at all!
Secondly, I NEVER use shampoo with SLS/SLES. Even in emergencies I prefer not washing my hair rather than using a shampoo with sulfates. Quitting sulfates, has been a hair changing experience for me that I am proud of 🙂
Everyday I eat raw carrot, spinach, tomato, beetroot (few pieces) and take folic acid and zinc vitamin tablets for my hair.
WEEKLY HAIR CARE ROUTINE:
Once a week I of course give my hair all the pampering it deserves. So here it goes:
I give my hair a warm oil treatment twice a week using ‘Enchanted’ - Hair Growth Oil by Bareskin Essentials. This has more than 20 herbs and is an ultimate hair oil for ALL the hair issues. Including male balding pattern. You can contact me on 8082431080 if you need any details 🙂 I leave the oil in my hair over night and then wash it the next day 🙂
Then on Saturday or Sunday, I make coconut milk at home and mix it with ‘Herbilicious’ - Handmade Hair Food by Bareskin Essentials. I make a thick paste and massage it in my hair and ensure that all the strands are well covered. I cover it with a shower cap and keep for 20-30 minutes. THIS mask has changed the way my hair feels and over the time it has strengthened my hair A LOT.
That’s it! SORRY. I told you I do not buy hair products or do anything fancy for my hair. I keep it simple but extremely healthy.
Shampoo’s that I use currently are:
- Sebamed Anti-dry shampoo (recommended by my dermatologist)
- Vcare Shikakai Paste
Conditioners that I use currently are:
- Kiehls anti-dry -Parabens and Sulfate free
- Eggs/banana/curd,coconut milk or grape seed oil (Depends on my mood)
I am not into hair serums yet and have not found any good serum with safe hair care ingredients. You have any suggestions?

My hair care routine may not be 100% organic, but I know that I am following what is necessary for my hair and not using anything even close to harmful.

Loved reading your hair care routine. I have also gone SLS, paraben and silicone-free and have noticed a huge difference in my hair. For a paraben free, silicones free and mineral oil free hair serum, you can try the Areev hair serum or Juicy chemistry has leave in cream as well as serum. Or even Aroma Essentials has a leave in serum.
