Hey! I have now decided to to talk about one specific ingredient in detail every Friday. I always make so many DIYโs and share my recipes, but knowing the ingredients in detail will help you make informed choices when you are making your own product. So my first ingredient on #INGREDIENTTALK is Dead Sea Salts.
I introduced myself to dead sea salt this year, sometime in January. I first tried it as a body scrub mixing it with oils, honey and multiple other ingredients till the time I came up with my perfect body scrub - recipe here. I have used it on my face only once (that too out of curiosity) and I do not advice you to use it on your face. It can be a little harsh if you have sensitive skin. But if you incorporate this as your body scrub - you will keep touching yourself again and again! ๐
What are Dead Sea Salts?
Dead sea salts refers to the salt extracted from dead sea. The waters of dead sea are unique and they contain 29% of salts as compared to 4% in normal sea. The salts from dead are not only rich in iodine, but they have 21 minerals and is highly rich and therapeutic for your mind, body and soul.
Studies have been conducted on the health benefits of bathing in Dead Sea salts. One such study was conducted by Dr. I. Machtey on 103 patients suffering from osteoarthritis and tendonitis. Patients were either treated with baths of 7.5%, 2%, or 0.5% Dead Sea salt concentration. Improvement was found after as little as one week of treatment for those treated with 7.5% or 2% salt baths. By the studyโs end, 80% of the patients reported less pain, 70% experienced improved mobility, and 60% were able to decrease their use of analgesics. (source seasalt.com)
