Today’s review is on a very important product, which we should never ever miss.
I researched a lot on sunscreens before going for my trek in Kashmir. I knew I had to take the best available out there as I was going to be in harsh sun for straight 8 days and that too without any shower facility :-/ Though tanning is a common thing when you are on a trek, I still did not want to get burnt!
I came across many sunscreens which were really good but way out of my budget. I also wanted something that would be easy to re-apply. And guess what? My angels heard me just right and I came across this face and body sunscreen stick by Neutrogena.
Going ahead with the review here’s what the brand has to say about it:

My Experience with Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face and Body Stick Sunscreen-SPF 70:
Most of us; are still in search for a HG sunscreen since most sunscreen either melts or is too sticky to apply and leaves your face looking like a frying pan. I was really scared of the same thing when I bought this; especially since I was going to be out in extreme sun for more than 8 hours at a stretch without any shower facility and a dusty place!
This sunscreen worked GREAT in the cold climate of Kashmir and it came in SO handy while re-applying. It really saved my face from peeling and burning. In fact my tan was also superficial which went in just 5 days time! Thanks to the wonderful face pack.
I was religiously re-applying every 2 hours and I did not feel as if the product is piling on my face. It blends in clear and semi-matte.
When here in Mumbai, I felt it to be a little oily but that was only for the first 15 minutes. Later when I rubbed it in it was fine; I wouldn’t say it was matte but definitely not the shiny oily kinds. Again reapplication was easy-peesy. The best part is it did not break me out, earlier Neutrogena sunscreen lotions did not work on me, but I’m so glad I gave this a try. Please note that my skin is semi-dry and sensitive.
It could be difficult to apply it on your body, since it is in a stick form. I personally prefer lotions for my body. It was also difficult to apply it around the corner of my nose but definitely manageable.
Packaging: It comes in a deodorant stick form which makes it really easy to apply and re-apply. It is retractable and a small stick hence can be easy to carry as well.
Fragrance: It does not have a very strong fragrance and I don’t think it should bother any noses.
Summing up the Pro’s and Con’s
Pros of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face and Body Stick Sunscreen-SPF 70:
- It applies sheer without any white cast
- Comes in a stick form so hygienic and easy to apply
- SPF 70 is a good deal
- Since it’s in a stick form – it will last longer
- Very easy to re-apply even if you are outdoors
- Did not break me out (Earlier Neutrogena sunscreen lotion has broken me out)
- Very compact hence easy to carry around and on planes
Cons of Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face and Body Stick Sunscreen-SPF 70:
- Difficult to apply on the body since it cannot spread
- Little oily feel when used in Mumbai (Humidity)
- Only available online
- The cover gathers dirt around the rim, since it does not shut tight
- Could be oily for extremely oily skin types

Yes totally! I really like the idea of a sunscreen stick. I wish it was more easily available and other brands in India also come out with this. This is hygienic and protects really well, without giving any white cast or extra shine.
