So are you in a phase where lipsticks are a necessity for you and yet you kind of really love your lips and do not want them to turn dark? Well, in that case you can use these brands since they do have some ‘safer’ lipsticks 🙂
I am personally not in a phase of emergency, but I do like some color on my lips may be alternate days. Especially when I have an Induction or an Interview to take at work. There was no way I was using the big names filled with chemicals lipstick, hence my research began 🙂 While there are less organic lipsticks in India, but there are definitely enough to find your favorite color.
Organic Lipsticks India:
Barva Skin Therapie:
So Barva lipsticks are apparently in the market since a long time. Their lipsticks are made of Ghee and other useful ingredients. They are made from natural base and is known to not have any side effects. Since it has butters it is also known to reduce cracks and moisturize your lips. They have many colors and are available on Amazon to buy. Buy here or on Amazon India.
Ingredients: Clarified butter, Kokum butter, Colour, Caprylic capric triglyceride, Bees wax, Carnauba wax, Vitamin – E acetate, Fragrance.
I have used the shade Apricot from this brand, and I pretty much like it. Its a decent deal for the price you pay. INR – 240 for a very small lipstick.
A comparatively, well marketed brand Ruby’s organics is also available on Nykaa and is well heard off. They do not offer a wide variety of colors but have all the basic colors available in their organic lipsticks range. You may check their products here.
Kaolin, talc, butyrosperumparkii (shea butter), mangiferaindica (mango butter), candelilla wax, carnauba, simmondsiachinesis (jojoba oil), prunusamygdalusdulcis (almond oil), ricinuscommunis (castor oil), beeswax, tocopherol, lanolin, isopropyl myristate, bht, pongamiapinnata seed extract, vanilla planifolia fruit
May contain: [+/- mica, titanium dioxide ci 77891, iron oxides ci 77492, ci 77491, ci 77499, lakes ci 77007 & 15850:2].
It does have oils, butters and wax which may prove to be moisturising. Considering Kaolin is the first ingredient i’m assuming this must be mattifying enough for a natural lipstick 🙂 This one is on a higher side for INR 990.
Again a well known brand, Soul tree lipsticks are made from ghee that proves to be a miracle healer for lips. This brand is certified from Germany so it does have a trust factor to it.
Butyrum (clarified butter)*, Ricinus communis (castor) oil*, Isoamyl laurate, Sorbitan olivate, Prunus dulcis (almond) oil*, Euphoribia cerifera (candelilla) cera, Copernicia cerifera (carnuba) cera, Cera alba (beeswax), Theobroma cacao (cocoa) butter, Coco-caprylate/caprate, Tocopherol, Rosa damascena (rose) oil, Cetyl palmitate, Parfum**, Limonene**, Linalool, Geraniol**, Citronellol**

The ingredients sure look promising for this one. But from what I have heard is that the staying power is not that good. But if you manage to find your perfect shade, then I think it’s worth reapplying rather than using lipsticks with harmful chemicals. It retails for INR 550 for a 4.5 grams of the product. You may buy here.
Again looks like a promising brand but the pricing is on a higher side. This is not an Indian brand and probably that is why the high pricing. They do have a lot to offer in cosmetics like they have lip tints, lipsticks, lip liners and different textures in lipsticks. Considering their range they do specialize in organic make up.
Ingredients (Lips tint): Rosa Moschata (Musk Rose) Seed Oil*, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*, Copernicia Cerifera,(Carnauba) Wax*,Cera Alba (Natural Beeswax),Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice*,Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail) Extract*,Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil*,Ascorbyl Palmitate,Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides,Tocopherol.
I am definitely going to try their products and see how they work. You may check it out here.
So these are a few organic lipsticks available in India. There are many more, but I have not tried or heard of them too much. Over all, I feel none of these brands are well marketed in India, right? Why has organic make up been hidden? I don’t get it! Do you guys feel the same for organic make up? Which is one product you would want in organic make up?
